Just go out and talk to a tree
This is the fun part I started painting as a hobby when I was little. I didn’t know I had any talent. I believe talent is just a pursued interest. Anybody can do what I do. This is a happy place, little squirrels live here and play.
I really believe that if you practice enough you could paint the ‘Mona Lisa’ with a two-inch brush. Water’s like me. It’s laaazy … Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do things Let’s build some happy little clouds up here. Even the worst thing we can do here is good.
The shadows are just like the highlights, but we’re going in the opposite direction. It all happens automatically. With practice comes confidence. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage. How do you make a round circle with a square knife? That’s your challenge for the day.
Just go out and talk to a tree. Make friends with it. It’s so important to do something every day that will make you happy. Use what happens naturally, don’t fight it.
This is the time to get out all your flustrations, much better than kicking the dog around the house or taking it out on your spouse. Be careful. You can always add more – but you can’t take it away. With something so strong, a little bit can go a long way. You can get away with a lot.
Let that brush dance around there and play. Let’s have a nice tree right here. A little happy sunlight shining through there. Go out on a limb – that’s where the fruit is. Nature is so fantastic, enjoy it. Let it make you happy. Just go back and put one little more happy tree in there.
This is a fantastic little painting. It just happens – whether or not you worried about it or tried to plan it. We don’t have anything but happy trees here. We wash our brush with odorless thinner. The little tiny Tim easels will let you down.
